    [02] P Committee - Cyprus - Resolution

Nicosia, Sep 16 (CNA) - The Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Parliament (EP) has unanimously adopted a motion for a resolution on Cyprus' application for membership of the European Union, which will be presented to the EP plenary session for approval next month.

In the resolution the EP deplores the lack of goodwill on the part of the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkey to make progress with the negotiations on the question of Cyprus and calls on the EU to become more involved in the search for a solution.
