    [01] Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Forum - Cyprus

    Nicosia, Feb 10 (CNA) - The Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Forum has expressed its "conviction of the need to find a solution to the problem of Cyprus which complies with the UN resolutions."

    In its final declaration adopted during its second session that concluded Friday, the Forum also expresses appreciation for the Secretary General's efforts to find a solution to the Cyprus problem.

    [02] Cyprus - UN - Protocols

    Nicosia, Feb 10 (CNA) - Cyprus' permanent representative to the UN Sotos Zackheos has signed on behalf of the Republic two optional protocols concerning children and women.

    They are the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child concerning the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, as well as the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, adopted by the General Assembly in October 1999, according to an official announcement.

    Cyprus - Conference - NGOs

    Larnaca, Feb 10 (CNA) -- The Cyprus question is among issues to be discussed at the sixth Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) Conference on Solidarity and Cooperation in the Mediterranean region, that got underway in the southern coastal town of Larnaca today, with the participation of 45 delegates from Mediterranean and European countries.

    The two-day Conference will also address issues relating to globalisation, Euro- Mediterranean Cooperation, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the demilitarisation of the Mediterranean.

    [04] AKEL - Turkish Cypriots - Limassol

    Limassol, Feb 10 (CNA) Some 48 members of the Turkish Cypriot Republican Party, from the Limassol district, are visiting their town and villages today at the invitation of left-wing AKEL party.

    "We will return with our spirit high and we hope that more people will be able to come on our next visit to see their towns and villages," Omer Kalioutsou of the Turkish Cypriot Republican Party said, adding this is what many Turkish Cypriots want.
