Cyprus disagrees with Turkish FM's remarks
Nicosia, Sep 22 (CNA) - Cyprus' Permanent Representative to the UN
Ambassador Andreas Mavroyiannis said that Cyprus totally disagrees with
remarks made by Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Gul before
the UN General Assembly.
Exercising his right to reply to the Turkish Minister, Mavroyiannis
took the floor yesterday and noted that ''we totally disagree'' with
Gul's evaluation regarding recent developments in the Cyprus problem,
adding that there is no alternative to a solution in the UN framework
but no one can accept Turkey's efforts to avoid meeting its EU
obligations by using efforts for a Cyprus settlement at the UN as an
excuse.
