  • [01] SPOKESMAN - TALAT`S STATEMENTS

Undersecretary to the President and Government Spokesman Christodoulos Pashiardis has said that recent statements by Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat reaffirm his intransigence and unwillingness to collaborate on finding a solution to the Cyprus question.

In a written statement, Pashiardes said that Talat exceeded himself with his statement on an ``insane and comical policy of President Papadopoulos on the Cyprus issue``.

``If these statements are not the result of simple confusion on his part, then they are simply a reaffirmation of his intransigence and his unwillingness to collaborate on finding a mutually acceptable solution to the Cyprus question``, he noted.

Pashiardis added that ``President Papadopoulos will not once again answer to Talats unacceptable and unfounded allegations.

He noted that on the one hand Mr Talat is presenting himself as a defender of reunification who is urgently seeking a meeting and dialogue with Papadopoulos and on the other hand he accuses the one he wants to meet as an enemy of a solution and an adversary of the Turkish Cypriots.
