Nicosia remains Russias ally in efforts to safeguard international law
on the issue of Kosovo, the 2007 report of the Russian Foreign Ministry
says.
It also notes that relations between Russia and Cyprus have allowed the
discussion of delicate bilateral and international issues.
The partnership relations with Cyprus have allowed substantive

work to secure transparency in the flow of money from the island to
Russia and vice versa continued, the report noted.
It added that the Cypriots have suggested to the European Union that
Russian nationals are allowed to visit Cyprus without visa
requirements, as was the case before Cyprus joined the EU in May 2004.

A senior Israeli official has said he would communicate to Tel Aviv the
concerns of Cypriot parliamentarians relating to activities by Israeli
nationals in Turkish occupied Cyprus and to other political issues.
Israel`s State Controller and Ombudsman Micha Lindenstrauss met on
Wednesday the Committee on Development Plans and Public Expenditure
Control of the House of Representatives, pledging to convey to the
Israeli Ambassador and the government the positions, views and concerns
raised during the meeting regarding political issues, such as the
operation of an office in Israel of the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime
and the illegal exploitation of property in the occupied areas by
Israelis.
Cypriot MPs Soteris Sampson, Christos Pourgourides, Antros Kyprianou,
Zacharias Koulias and George Perdikis, in the presence of Cypriot
Auditor General Chrystalla Yiorkatzi, raised political issues affecting
relations between Cyprus and Israel, and called on Lindenstrauss to
intervene.
