  • [01] President to participate in European Council in Brussels

    President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades will participate in the European Council that takes place this week in Brussels.

    The EU Summit's agenda includes the following subjects: digital economy, innovation and services, growth, competitiveness and jobs, and the Economic and Monetary Union.

    [02] Mobile laboratory for archaeological research presented Tuesday

    A mobile laboratory for archaeological research called STAR - LAB was presented Tuesday at the Cyprus Institute in Nicosia. According to a press release, the mobile laboratory is considered to be a unique research infrastructure for Cyprus, the wider region and Europe.

    The event was attended by Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades, Ambassadors of France, Italy, Israel and other officials. Addressing the event, the Minister of Finance said that innovation is very important in the efforts to restart the economy, adding that the development of STAR-LAB contributes to those efforts.

    The STAR-LAB mobile lab consists of a four-wheel drive truck with a specially fitted cabin on the chassis, capable of hosting two researchers and their necessary equipment for performing the research and remotely communicate with the field units and the "home laboratory".

    [03] Minister thanks Hungary for supporting Cyprus in challenging times

    Cyprus and Hungary have expanded and intensified their cooperation in a wide range of fields, Minister of Defence Fotis Fotiou said Tuesday in his address at the reception hosted on the occasion of the National Day of Hungary in Nicosia.

    "On this symbolic day we join Hungarian friends everywhere in the world to honour the courage, sacrifice and vision of the patriots who have fallen for the independence and freedom of Hungary", he said.

    Fotiou thanked the political leadership and the people of Hungary for supporting Cyprus at challenging times. He recalled that a major contribution of Hungary to Cyprus is the participation of the Hungarian contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.
