Cyprus government welcomed yesterday the signing of the peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Government Spokesman Mr. Michalis Papapetrou stated yesterday that «the government considers that every step in the direction of peace in our region has a positive impact on the efforts to settle the Cyprus question».

Moreover Mr. Papapetrou expressed hope that the Middle East peace process will move on steadily in the next months.

[03] Cyprus condemns terrorist act in Dagestan

Cyprus government expressed yesterday its firm opposition to terrorism and all forms of religious fanaticism.

Government Spokesman Mr. Michalis Papapetrou said that «the Cyprus government strongly condemns the terrorist act in Dagestan which has resulted in the death and injury of dozens of innocent people. The Cyprus government would like to stress once more that it flatly condemns religious fanaticism in whatever form as well as any secessionist action and unreservedly supports the maintenance of the territorial integrity of the Russian federation», he added.
