    BRUSSELS - Farm Commissioner Franz Fischler ruled out on Monday any speedy end to a worldwide ban on British beef exports if Britain announces plans to cull an extra 100,000 cattle most likely to develop mad cow disease.

    BRUSSELS - Britain's decision on Monday to go ahead with a selective slaughter of cattle most at risk from mad cow disease was welcomed by Dutch farm minister Jozias Van Aartsen, whose country is next to take over the EU presidency.

    PARIS - France said on Monday it wanted a review of European Union aid for veal producers hit by the mad cow crisis after French cattle breeders ransacked Dutch trucks and burnt meat cargoes in an anti-EU protest.
