A home-made bomb exploded outside the branch offices of two German electrical appliance firms in Thessaloniki early Wednesday, just hours ahead of the German president's visit to the northern Greek capital.

Police told ANA that the bomb, comprising four small liquid gas cannisters and a cannister of gasoline, exploded at 1:45 a.m. outside the branch offices of the Miele and NEFF companies in the eastern part of the city, causing damage but no injuries.
