[02] Bill on the combat of sexual exploitation

Criminal activities including the trade in human beings, the sexual exploitation of children and women and pornography with the depiction of children will soon be considered as part of the categories labeled organized crime, according to a draft bill of the public order ministry. These crimes will also be included in the list of crimes of the trafficking and money laundering legislation now in force. Public Order Minister Michalis Chrysohoidis said that this bill is a necessary step in Greece s course to harmonization with the international practice, as the country is not just a path of immigrants to other countries but one of permanent residence for them.

[03] No deportation for immigrantsImmigrants who have applied for a residence permit in Greece and have submitted all the necessary documents will not be deported until a residence permit is issued to them. For this reason, the Ministry of Interior has supplied prefectures across the country with additional personnel for speedier results.

[04] Privatization of the Agricultural Bank

65% of the management of the Agricultural Bank goes to the private sector. As Finance Minister Nikos Christodoulakis announced, the state will be restricted to 35%, from 85% of the administration up to date. In addition, the government s plan provides the floating of the shares of the affiliate companies Dodoni, SEKAP, and ATE Leasing to the stock exchange. Furthermore, shares of the affiliate companies KAE, Greek Sugar industry, Agno and Rodopi will also be available to strategic investors.

    [05] Athens bourse
