(17/3/2003 1:01:00 μμ) [02] American President says Iraq diplomacy endsThe UN has only one more day to determine whether or not diplomacy can work said the American President George Bush yesterday at the conclusion of the emergency summit in the Azores with the leaders of Spain, Britain and Portugal.British Prime-minister, Tony Blair challenged UN members to make up their mind overnight on a second resolution over Iraq while Spanish and Portuguese Prime-ministers spoke of a last diplomatic effort. In a joint announcement at the end of the summit the leaders of Spain, Portugal, Britain and the US committed themselves to take a solemn obligation to help the Iraqui people build a new Iraq at peace with itself and its neighbors, to seek and end to international sanctions and support an international reconstruction program to help Iraq achieve real prosperity and reintegrate into the global community . Iraqui President, Saddam Housein vowed that his country, would fight back wherever in the world there is sky, earth and water, if invaded. He denied that Iraq has still banned weapons and accused the U.S of appointing itself judge of the world. In the meantime, the chief UN weapon inspector, Hans Blix did not rule out a new visit to Iraq while he described as divided the Azores message since, American President spoke about liberation of Iraq while the Prime-ministers of Spain and Britain spoke of a last opportunity for the Iraqui regime. Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer also called Australian nationals to leave these countries foreseeing an attack this week. …… (17/3/2003 1:00:00 μμ) [03] World Health organisation warns of killer pneumoniaGlobal health authorities are on the alert for a severe type of pneumonia that has killed at least nine people , infected more than 100 and sparked a warning from the World Health Organisation. The illness which starts with flu like symptoms such as couhing, high fever and shortness of breath can deteriorate rapidly into pneumonia.No cases of the atypical pneumonia have been reported in Greece, the health ministry said yesterday. The severe type of pneumonia was detected in southeast Asia with isolated cases reported elsewhere due to travel to the region or contact with travellers.Authorities have been instructed to remain on the alert for any possible cases of the disease, the statement added. The ministry also warned people to avoid unnecessary trips to China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
