    Quake Shakes South Crete

    A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck southwest Crete at 02:16. The quake was located south of Gaidouronisi, in the Libyan Sea. It was particularly felt in the Eraklio prefecture but there were no reports of damage or injuries. According to seismologists there is no reason for concern.

    According to weather forecast there will be deterioration in weather conditions with heavy storms in most parts of the country, including Attika. In its announcement, the Civil Protection Secretariat says that bad weather will particularly effect Thessaly, central and east Sterea, the south Ioanian, the Peloponese, Crete and the Cyclades and the Dodecanese islands. Snow is expected to fall on high ground in Central and northern Greece, particularly on Pindos mountain range as well as on high ground in West and Central Sterea and in the northern part of Peloponnese later in the evening. Bad weather will stay till tomorrow morning. In the Aegean Sea, winds easterly strong to very strong, gradually abating from late afternoon.
