    Altec Telecoms announced in a press release on Friday that it would file for bankruptcy later in the day due to "risk of financial inability", in accordance with Article 3, Paragraph 2 of the Bankruptcy Code. The company says that the recent development will have an impact on Altec group however these will not cause serious problems to its operations. Altec Telecoms is close to filing for bankruptcy, as its problems have been aggravated in the last months, following OTE΄s action to vindicate a sum it claims the company owes.

    [02] Doctors suspended form Duties

    President of Red Cross hospital, Andreas Marinis ordered the suspension from duties of doctors who had video taped a patients medical operation. In parallel he recalled authorization of the hospitals administrator because the doctors who offended the honor and reputation of hospital not only were not suspended from duties but were participating today in medical operations.

    [03] GSEE-ADEDY Strike on Tuesday

    GSEE and ADEDY unions as well as local working centers and federations plan a general strike as well as protestation marches and gatherings on Tuesday 21/10/08. At the same day, a protestation rally will take place in Pedion Areos area, Athens at 11.00. All state and private sector employees will participate in the general strike. Employees of public transport (metro, trolley, tram, trolley) also plan work stoppages next week.
