  • [01] Nominees for the EU Elections to Be Unveiled on Sunday

The political wrangling ahead of the European Parliament is culminating, with the political parties holding open political events. In the meantime, the ruling Conservatives (ND) and the Socialists (PASOK) are to unveil Sunday their nominees.

In particular, Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis, who stressed Friday that the elections should be held with purely political terms, will unveil Sunday morning his party's nominees. Later on the same day, he will address an event in the NW city of Arta. Also on Sunday, Socialist leader George Papandreou will first release his candidates and then will depart for Patras, southern Greece, to address a political event. Communist head Aleka Papariga will deliver a speech at an event organized for immigrants, Alexis Tsipras of SYN (Coalition of the Radical Left) will fly to the Ionian island of Lefkada, and George Karatzaferis of LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) to Kavala, northern Greece.
