  • [01] H1N1 Flu: Caution and additional measures

Hospitals and airports in Greece are taking additional precautionary measures regarding the new flu. The 19 years old young man who is being hospitalized in "Simanogleio" hospital after being found positive to the virus is recovering smoothly. Minister of health Dimitris Avramopoulos seems reassuring but recommends people to be in alert. On the charges launched by the Pan Hellenic Federation of Nurses that during the submission of the patient in Sismanogleio the necessary health conditions were neglected putting that way in danger the hospitals, staff, he ordered a preliminary investigation. The result of the test conducted by Patser Institute regarding the patient who is hospitalized in Heraklion hospital was negative.

    Constant Alert

Members of the family of the 19 years old man as well as passengers of the flight arriving to Athens airport from the US are under constant examination and so far have not presented any symptoms. All of them are receiving antibiotic medicines for precautionary reasons.

Meantime, Athens prefecture has started a campaign to emigrants, refugees and other social groups. Except from Simsanogleio hospital, Sotiria, AHEPA, Elena maternity clinic, Paidon Agia Sophia as well as hospitals in Heraklion, Rhodes, Alexandroupoli, Patra and Ioannina, Corfu and Larissa are in alert.

Greek experts as well as specialists of World Health Organization (WHO) do not exclude the possibility the flu to spread in September. What must be noted is that the procedure for the production of the vaccine is entering the last stage.
