    A heat wave is forecast to hit the country during the weekend with temperatures soaring to 40C and in some regions to 43C. Strong winds will be abating and temperature will be gradually rising from Friday evening. Temperature is forecast to rise to 41C-43C in continental parts of the country on Saturday.

    Vulnerable groups of people should avoid exhibition to the sun and take the necessary protection measures.

    Heat Wave Advisory

    1.Avoid Sunbathing

    2. Stay under shadow and cool places

    3. Avoid heavy work

    4. Wear light and comfortable clothes

    5. Wear hats

    6. Eat light and small meals with emphasis on fruit and vegetables

    7. Drink plenty of water

    8. Avoid Alcohol

    9. Take many warm showers

    10. Wear sunglasses to protect from ultraviolet rays

    People suffering from lung and heart problems should consult their treating doctors.

    The Social Solidarity Center advises people to contact with friends and relatives who live alone. A phone call might save a life.

    Temperature is also expected to rise to 40C on Friday- except for the island of Crete, Limnos, and south Aegean islands-despite the meltemi wind reaching force 8.
