    Athens, 22 December 2003 (14:23 UTC+2)

The right-wing main opposition party of New Democracy commented on the public opinion polls conducted by the polling companies Kappa Research, RASS and ALCO. The opinion polls have confirmed that New Democracy has secured a considerable distance leading PASOK.

According to a statement issued by New Democracy, the conclusion reached based on the opinion polls is that a few months before the elections and in spite of the anxious efforts by the governing Socialist Party of PASOK to launch a counterattack by using populist methods and benefits, the distance in favor of New Democracy was not reduced but on the contrary it was increased.
