Washington, May 17 (CNA) -- US Defence Secretary William Cohen assured Greek Americans of the US administration's interest in Cyprus, noting that every time he meets Turkish officials he puts forward President Bill Clinton's interest over the issue.

At the same time State Department Special Coordinator for Cyprus Thomas Weston and the Department's Spokesman Richard Boucher said the US remains committed in the process for a Cyprus settlement.

[03] PSEKA Conference - Cyprus problem

Washington, May 17 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Greece have called on the US to keep the promises it made regarding Cyprus and to act towards Ankara before the third round of the UN-sponsored talks starts, to show the necessary political will to promote a Cyprus settlement.

This was outlined during yesterday's start of the 11th annual World Coordinating Committee - Justice for Cyprus and the Council of Hellenes Abroad (PSEKA/SAE) Cyprus conference in Washington.
