by Maria Myles New York, Sep 12 (CNA) -- Bilateral issues, matters relating
to the Swiss constitution and the resumption of the UN peace talks on
Cyprus were some of the topics Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides discussed
here yesterday with Swiss Foreign Minister Joseph Deiss.
Deiss said he is willing to explain the structure of the Swiss constitution
to the parties involved in Cyprus, if this is going to be helpful.

by Maria Myles New York, Sep 12 (CNA) - Ways to render the UN-led peace
talks on Cyprus substantive were the focus of a meeting President Glafcos
Clerides had with Britain's envoy for Cyprus, Sir David Hannay, here
yesterday, Cyprus Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said after the
meeting in the framework of the UN peace talks.
Papapetrou said the President is scheduled to have a series of meetings in
the framework and tonight, he will attend a dinner hosted by US
Presidential Emissary for Cyprus Alfred Moses.

[03] Cyprus - EU accession negotiations - Meetings
Nicosia, Sep 12 (CNA) -- European Union chief negotiator in the accession
talks with Cyprus Leopold Maurer arrives here tomorrow heading a 12-member
European Commission mission, to examine issues relating to the chapters
under discussion and give a push to the Republic's accession process that
opened late 1998.
As part of the process, the delegation will sort out some technical details
in the individual chapters, keep the pressure going and push the Parliament
to speed things up in harmonising laws and legislation with that of the EU,
well informed sourced told CNA.
