[04] Cyprus Foreign Minister - UN General Assembly

by Maria Myles New York, Sep 21 (CNA) -- Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has appealed to Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots to "look to the future" and work for reconciliation, in a peaceful, reunited and demilitarised Cyprus, member of the European Union where all Cypriots can live in peace and prosperity, enjoying full protection of their human rights.

Addressing the UN General Assembly here today, Kasoulides also called on the international community not to accept the so-called "realities" on the island, which are the result of Turkey's invasion in 1974, as such a move would set a precedent for the disintegration of small states in a world where the will of the mighty reigns supreme.
